An architect for the people: Sjoerd Soeters.

In this short film, Sjoerd Soeter talks about his house and at the end (from 16:00) he talks about designing for the people:

“Now it’s the market’s, and so the user’s turn: the inhabitant, the user of offices and of commercial spaces. They will have totally different demands than those the architects are used to answering”

“We have to build for people. If we forget for whom we build, we can talk about sustainability as much as we want, but it means that every new building, after 20 to 30 years, after it has lost its luster, will be demolished. Sustainability is in the first place thinking about how peoply can live toghether happily in urban or rural areas.”
